Krankheiten auf Wanderschaft

The assignment deals with the worldwide expansion of infectious diseases being transmitted by mosquitoes and a chance to act against it. Important factors in this complex of themes are the international trade that globally disseminates the mosquitoes, the climate change that improves the living conditions of the mosquitoes also in colder regions and voyagers that travel unprotected to tropical countries and carry diseases from country to country. The interaction of these three factors generates a not to be underestimated risk of the dissemination of epidemics.

A current example is the Zika-Virus in Brazil. A concept for a presentation in the airport was elaborated with the objective to tell travelers about the potential danger of mosquitoes as those contribute a significant part to the dissemination. Within the scope of the work a part of the exhibition was worked out in a conceptual and creative way and simulated in a video.

The interaction concept follows the real examination procedures for mosquitoes in the lab. The intuitive handling is achieved by a regulation combination of touch and gesture as well as tangible interactions. A positive user experience that increases the learning effect is generated by strong analogies of reality that reflect both in the interaction concept and in the formal design. The highlight during the handling of the media installation the user experiences by manual contact of the touch display. By projections to the hand the visitor learns the sting of an infected mosquito the hard way.

DIAMATE

mobile management application for diabetics

The application supports, relieves and attends the user in his private daily environment and is available for Apple Watch and the iPhone. It combines various therapies and devices to offer the patient a comprehensive general view. Also relatives and outsiders can support the user in his treatment by means of the application, no matter if by synchronization of a second smart phone for relatives or by primary instruction of outsiders via smart-watch.

Similarly the diabetic has the chance to be supported by an additional lamp in case he does not wear the watch. In emergency and by automatic documentation “Diamate” supports and relives the diabetic with the control of his up-to-date data and options for therapy, the communication with other patients or with the doctor. Thus “Diamate” offers the possibility to the user to integrate his treatment discreetly in his daily life.
