MIMA – A MINIMALLY INVASIVE OBSERVATION TOOL FOR BEEKEEPERS

Mima is the idea of a measuring instrument to help the beekeeper examine and monitor the health of the bees. Thanks to the minimally invasive approach, the beehive stays closed for the examination, preserving the sensitive microclimate and not disturbing the bees. The measuring instrument is inserted through an opening into the hive, then the readings, as well as a video transmission from inside the beehive to the spherical examination unit (SU) are analysed. Moreover, it is possible to examine an individual bee, which is gently conveyed into the SU by the transport system and presented in a magnified form on the display. This considerate interaction between mankind, machine and animal, creates a novel symbiosis between nature, culture and technology.

TIO DIVING SYSTEM

Snorkelling and scuba diving are related ways of diving. The TIO Diving System is an innovative concept that opens up a whole range of applications between these two kinds of diving. It com- bines the simplicity of snorkelling with the advantages of scuba diving, enabling beginners to breathe under water without a diving license. A small compressed air cylinder enhances the fun of snorkelling with several minutes of air for the dive. An alarm gives the diver both an acoustic and a visual signal when the air is running out or the maximum diving depth is reached. The regulator is connected to the snorkel. A shut-off system seals the snorkel when diving and simultaneously provides air from the cylinder.
